Incredible sounding speaker package at a reasonable pricepoint!
Like the other reviewer I am not one to shower any product with accolades unless it is fully warranted. I can tell you that without hesitation the Definitive Technology Procinema 800 system is entirely worthy of such praise. Now I must qualify the fact that the space I was filling was around 12 x 28 feet with a 50" Panasonic plasma TV in one corner, but the end result was nothing short of mindblowing. The speakers work exceptionally well with my Denon 790 receiver and the Audessey setup certainly made it all easy to do. The sub has so much bass capability I really only had it dialed down to halfway (the adjustable volume on the side of the subwoofer is a great feature.....there's enough bass to knock pictures off the walls if you so desire). The satellite speakers are all set to crossover at 100 Hz and the sub picks up the slack from there. The marriage of the components is seamless, playing music is crisp and clear, but it's the sound from Blu-ray movies where this system really...

Amazing system, great price, and a surprisingly room-filling sub.
I've stared at this system on the internet for about 4 years before finally moving into a new home, and purchasing it. The speakers are made well, but sound even better. Great highs, great midrange, and of course - a real room-filling subwoofer. With music these speakers sound great, and of course watching a blu-ray disc really brings the true sound out of these which will blow you away for the price and size. This is one of the highest recommendations I can give. The only issue I had, is that the first subwoofer was blown, but onecall replaced it quickly for me.

Extremely Please with my Definitive Technology Speakers
I did a lot of research before opting to purchase this speaker system. I'm very much an amateur and was very cautious about my decision.When the package arrived, I was surprised by how compact the speakers were even though I had read in another blog that someone else had the same reaction. I was impressed with the quality of construction, feel and the look of the speakers.Hooking them up was very easy. I used Monster XPHPCIBIG100 Speaker Cable along with Monster Cable QL GMT-H QuickLock Gold Banana Connectors that I also purchased on Amazon. In doing my homework, I couldn't find anyone that could sell this stuff at a better price than Amazon.The speakers are connected to a Denon AVR-4308CI Multizone Home Theater Receiver with Network Streaming and Wi-Fi. These are the speakers to buy!
Let me start by saying I research everything extensively before I buy it, especially home audio. I initially thought I wanted bose acoustimass, but all the reviews were mixed. My biggest criteria was small speakers. I previously had tower Sonys and bose surround, but was ready for a more hidden look. I whittled the research down to mirage nanosats or these. I was skeptical spending $600+ without hearing them and went to the local best buy where I could listen to both. They both sound great, but the definitive sounded a bit fuller and I couldn't get used to the nanosats. Setup is a bit odd, but well worth the sound. Plenty of tight bass, but not too boomy and the mids and highs are clear and lifelike.

Buy these speakers!!
Fantastic sound, you won't be upset with this purchase!!Great sound, very attractive, nice solid weight to the speakers, definitly not cheap flimsy crap!! Easy to set up although they recommend your front speakers plug into the Sub and not straight from your receiver. Nice seperation of sound, very impressed. Would buy these all over again!!Get the floor stands, very solid and worth the $99 a pair.All speakers come with Bannana type plugs that plug in or you can unscrew and feed wire in. I found a great deal on Amazon for gold plugs by Dayton and made my own cables with 14 guage wire, much cleaner install than straight wire.

So far, so good!
I'm no audio/stereophile, but these speakers sound great in my small-medium sized room. The packaging was really well done (they fit everything in there nice and tight) and the speakers themselves are good-looking and discreet. The subwoofer has a lot of power and a very easy to reach volume control. These plugged right in to my Denon receiver and sounds great! I'd recommend.

Great product for the money
I purchased this speaker system a few weeks ago and I must say I'm impressed. The speakers look nice: they have a clean, black finish, and are small enough to fit almost anywhere. But what really counts is the sound quality. I'm pushing them with a good-quality Denon receiver and the sound quality is fabulous for the price. I went to several stores listening to systems costing much more than the $410.95 I paid for this and there was really no comparison.The highs and lows have a nice blend. In many small systems you get a separation, with the sub picking up a lot of the mid-range sounds and everything ends up muddy-sounding, but I haven't noticed that at all with this system. The highs are awesome, and the bass works well both with movies and music. I have my receiver programmed to tweak the sound between music and movies, but that's just to accommodate my own taste. And when you crank the sound up, whoa! These little speakers pack a nice punch for their size...

Sweet sounding little bricks
I must preface my review by saying that I am using the Pro Cinema 60.6 as part of a 7.1 kit that includes 12 year old DefTech BP6's for fronts. I listen to a lot of music so having the added punch to left and right is a plus. The 60.6 satellites are used strictly as LR and rear surround. Room size is 15x25ft and the combination creates a very full and accurate sound @ -25db and numbing at -5db. When combined with the Denon AVR-2310 using Audessy setup mic, the amp crossover sets the satellites at 120hz and the center at 110hz.The subwoofer is compact and lightly powered by today's standards (150 watts), but has yet to distort while being able to shake the couch comfortably at 8ft. Having a wider bandwidth set of fronts allows me to set the on-board crossover @ the bottom 40hz. Obviously using the 60.6 satellites as fronts may require a higher crossover. I experimented a little and found a little mud at higher frequencies (>100hz) but 0 "boominess" thanks to the tight...

A Lot of Sound for the Size
I've had these Def Tech speakers for 6 months now. They are hooked into a Denon 1910 AVR kicking out 90w per channel. I was deciding between the Klipsch 5.1 Flat Panel Theater Pkg and these, but liked the sound quality from the Def Techs better. What amazes me about these speakers is the clarity of sound. Whether I'm watching a movie or listening to music, the sound is very clear and crisp and you would swear you were listening to a set of larger speakers. The only reason I gave this a 4 star rating instead of a 5 is because the subwoofer does not have an on/off switch. You have to unplug it. It is an inconvenience. Overall, I would highly recommend these speakers if you are on a tight budget and want to get the best bang for your buck for sound and space limitations.

These are low profile and small. They are concealed by the speaker and are simple to install. Mounting hardware is NOT included so you will need to purchase the proper fasteners depending on whether you are mounting to brick, drywall or other surface. I would buy these again.

Def. Tech Pro-Mount 80
I recently purchased some Energy CB-5 speakers. Since this is the first pair of speakers that I decided to mount I figured I would go with mount from a decent brand. These took me about 20 minutes to put up and get my speakers mounted. You do have to use channel locks or a big pair of pliers to wrench the thing tight enough, however, this didn't really bother me. My speakers have been up for almost a week and have yet to move a millimeter. Speakers weigh 6.6 lbs each.

Worked ok for Def Tech 1000's and better for the 800's
Bought these Def Tech Pro Mount 80 brackets to mount my Definitive Technology Pro Monitor 1000's(front Mains) and Pro Monitor 800's(Rear Surround). The brackets mount easily to the wall, especially if you can grab a stud. If not those wall anchors are necessary(better get good anchors for heavier speakers). The brackets hold the 800's great. Only needed to hand tighten the clamp and the speakers weren't moving. The 1000's however, because they are heavier, required more than just hand tightening the clamp. I needed to tighten it using channel lock pliers. Once I did that the 1000's didn't move/sag down out of position from the weight of the speaker. They make Pro Mount 90's which might be better for the 1000's, but BB did not have them and I did not want to wait. The 80's worked anyway, even for the 1000's, once I tightened the clamp with pliers. So far so good.

Best mounts I have used
I have the Definitive Technology Promonitor 1000 these mounts work perfectly. The speakers weigh 8 pounds these mounts hold the speakers like a vise. I would recommend the mounts for any pair of speakers. Definitive Tech has the screw hole for the mounts on the bottom of the speakers why i dont know. Makes the speakers very heavy on top and hard for most mounts to hold them. Like i said not this set they dont move. I went through many mounts before Def Tech came out with these mounts. So i tried them and will be the last mounts i will need. Get them for and speaker you want mounted that weigh more than 5 pounds. You wont regret it.

Strong
These are not flimsy at all and if you torque the main hex pretty well the speaker will not droop at all. I kept checking week after week and my center channel is still pointing up. They seem well engineered and strong all around.

Nice Mounts... They Get The Job Done!
Although the description lists a select group of speakers this mount will work with, they will actually work with "any" speaker weighing 10 pounds or less, providing the speakers also have a 1/4x20 threaded mounting hole on its back. I used these to mount my . (very nice, awesome sounding Home Theater speakers also purchased from Amazon)I'll admit I personally found the $50 price tag for these mounts a bit steep. Granted, the mounts are nicely constructed and get the job done but its hard to justify the price. Musician's stamp of approval
For anyone in a hurry, I'll begin at the end: the DefTech 800s are a fantastic value. And great little speakers regardless of price. I bought a pair for a 2.1 music setup, which doubles as a simple HT system. Coupled with a low-end Velodyne sub (VX-10) and 100-watt per channel amp (JVC RX-5060), the 800s' sound is so pure and musical that I find myself working through my CD collection just to hear how good everything sounds.I've been a musician for 30 years and needed to go small to fit into a tastefully furnished living room. I read a lot, listened a lot, and found myself wanting DefTech 1000s (the next level up) but not able to handle their larger physical size. I tried a slightly smaller model from another prominent manufacturer but wasn't happy with the small sound. Better Than Bose
I recently sold my house and included my Bose Acoustimass 10 speaker system with the media room. I researched for many days and even considered buying another Bose set. After looking at CNET reviews (Bose was not listed in the top 10), I decided to buy the Pro Cinema 800 set. But instead of the 8" subwoofer I bought the 10" subwoofer. I bought all the speakers seperately (no cost savings buying the package) including my 10" Definitive subwoofer. The satellites are a lot bigger than the Bose satellites and this helps them reproduce a fuller spectrum of sound. The sound coming from the Pro 800 are more rich and full. On the top is a passive radiator that works in tandem with the woofer to help radiate lower frequencies (these speakers are acoustically suspended). The stand on the bottom is removable and there is an included plug to cover the mounting hole if you are mounting them on wall mounts (each speaker weighs about 4 pounds). Exceptional Speakers for Both Size and Price
These speakers are really something special. I was looking to replace my front speakers in a 5.1 setup and really needed something that could cross well with my center channel and ML subwoofer while still maintaining a small footprint. This was no easy task, and after about a week of searching I thought I was out of luck. Then I found the definitive pro monitor series.For the size these speakers have a great frequency response. Rated down to 57hz(I will discuss this more below) these are perfect for an 80hz crossover in a home theater application. Since size was one of my concerns(and unfortunately a need)these speakers were a no brainer considering most of the competition satellite speakers cannot touch frequency ranges lower than 100hz. Cabinet build is very solid with a nice, esthetically pleasing design.
