Great bang (and crash and boom) for your bucks
The JBL L880 floorstanding towers are EXTRAORDINARY value for money compared with other manufacturer's and internet only dealers products. Many will claim to have very neutral response and dynamic potential, but JBL has been in the business of making speakers since before many of those companies were glimmers in the eyes of their founders.You can find excellent measurements of the L880's response curves online (Stereophile has an excellent review with such measurements) and the measurements don't lie. Flat response on axis from 40KHz down to about 30 Hz (with some leeway for room reinforcement). What that means in terms of listening is that everything sounds exactly as the mixer, engineers, and musicians (or movie makers if that's your bag) intended it to; nothing is being unduly influenced by characteristics of the speakers themselves, hence the description as neutral.I've been using these paired with an Onkyo TX-SR606, a JBL LC2 center, and some surrounds...

Surprise, surprise!
Well folks, I am utterly in disbelief. JBL in my apartment. Shocking!I've always considered myself a fringe audiophile. I say fringe because I've yet to drink the kool-aid. Partly because I can't afford it. But I read all the audio magazines Stereophile etc., and have been doing so since my teen years. And over these years audio has become my favorite hobby/pass time. I've lusted (amongst other things)over Thiels, Vandersteens,Thorens, Krells, ARC,C-J etc.I had been doing research for the pass 6 months on a new pair of speakers to replace my 1-year old Polks. The TSi300's were a stop gap as I gradually build up my dedicated 2-channel setup. I, like everyone else, had gone bonkers with the HT bug.The speakers I was looking at were the Revel Concerta F12, Monitor Audio Silver RX6 and of course PSB. Worth Every Penny
Shipping was fast, though amazon did complicate matters by shipping them on separate days, requiring two separate deliveries, not just one. Had them out of the box in about 10 minutes each, so unboxing was relatively easy, especially given that I was doing it alone without any help. Currently have them single-wired to a Harmon Kardon HK 3490 stereo receiver, so I am using these in a 2.0 system (no subwoofer) primarily for music and the occasional blu-ray movie. Completely pleased with their performance so far (two weeks). Bass is clean and tight, and even without a sub, these speakers provide wall-rattling bass if I want it. Midrange and highs are clear and distinct as well. The soundstage is remarkably three-dimensional, not just horizontally but vertically as well, and roomy. I listen to all kinds of music from jazz to rock to rap, and I'm finding that the speakers perform exceptionally well no matter the genre, though I have to say that they are the most outstanding and...

Great for the money
I have had these speakers for a little over a month and they sound great. Even though I have a subwoofer, they sound great by themselves. In my opinion, this is a true full range speaker. The detailed highs, pronounced mid and deep lows make this speaker a winner. I not only recommend this speaker, I also recommend the rest of the Studio L line. One word of caution....they will sound really bright at first but they will calm down.

JBL Speaker Classic
I purchased a complete Studio L home theater anchored by the L890 over a month ago, and after breaking them in with every style of music, I can can say that these speakers truly deliver the goods. On acoustic Jazz, you can hear into the performance, with a deep and wide soundstage and terrific articulation of each instrument. Bass is full and natural with a solid feeling of the body of the instrument. Horns sound real and arc across the front of my room. The music in 2 channel analog direct mode on my Sony STR-DA5400ES reciever makes my music come to life. These speakers are well balanced from top to bottom, and never emphasize one part of the audio spectrum over another. On Classical music, orchestras sound powerful, and the strings sound rich and full. The speakers present a sweeping panorama of sound. Organs go deep and sound powerful, in fact I can feel the sound of the organ in my chest. Beethoven and Mahler sound like you are there in the concert hall. Rock music really comes...

Good Sound
I bought these because I trust JBL. I have a pair of JBL Decade L-26 speakers that are 33 years old and going strong. Originally I was going to buy some Polks and use them as my rear channel. I listened to the JBL Venue series and was not too impressed, the Studio L's blew them away. They sounded so good my old JBL's will be the rear channel now.
