These are not the extended life oil filters that go 10,000 miles. Those would be Fram XG16 oil filters. The PH16 is a 3-6,000 mile filterBe sure to use extended life oil with longer life oil filters like Mobile-1 synthetic.The filter arrived in good shape the black bottom is 'gripping' that helps one tighten the filter in place even when hands are oily.The price is comparable to the brick and mortar stores and delivered free with amazonPRIME. Good filter, good price
As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for...with oil filters, this holds true as well. PureONE filters are one of the few I'll buy. They do a good job and don't cost a lot. I bought this from Amazon strictly on price and free shipping, as it was the best deal I could find.I tend to buy oil and filters when I find them on sale and keep them handy. I use this product for both my mustang (306 stroker) and for my everyday ride. Might just be me but after a couple thousand, I noticed that my engine oil (mobile #1 synthetic) seems to look almost new when I check the dip stick???? Top to learn more
What I would expect fron K&N
If nothing else, the welded nut on the bottom of this filter makes it worth the additional cost over cheaper brands at discount stores. Add the sturdier construction and filter media and you have an excellent product. I will buy again and ordering from Amazon makes it hassle free. Top to learn more

We've changed oil filters and several of our product development technicians are sportsman class drag racers. They insisted we offer an oil filter that corrected the headaches they experienced over the years changing oil filters. We have all been there: Whether it's remembering where that disappearing canister tool is; or having oil leak all over your garage and yourself; or finally giving up and pounding a screwdriver through the filter just to get if off. Each of our automotive and marine oil filters comes with a 1 nut welded to the top of the canister so they can be easily wrenched-off with a standard tool. Our motorcycle and ATV oil filters come with a 17 mm nut. Our oil filters use resin impregnated cellulose filter media. This allows for higher flow rates while providing outstanding filtration. High filter flow rates are important in racing vehicles where heavier grade oil is used and the oil is pumped much faster than in a standard vehicle. When the engine is circulating oil at high GPM rates, the high-flow oil filter helps reduce the loss of pressure through the filtering process. To satisfy the demands of racers, our oil filter has many features over and above the requirements of most vehicles. We use thicker canister walls for extra strength and durability which reduces the risk of damage from loose rocks and debris. The heavy-duty construction will withstand higher oil pressures found only in racing environments without bursting. The drilled hole on the nut is for a safety wire attachment. Required for many types of racing, the safety wire prevents blown oil filters from falling on the track and representing a hazard to other race vehicles. Mobil vs Bosch Distance Plus vs K&N
If you are do-it-yourselfer, K&N is most convenient (nut to remove, mark to rotate the last 3/4 turn). If you are a racing enthusiast, Mobil can withstand the max pressure (615 psi, Bosch 500 psi). If you are interested in changing filter as late as possible, Bosch-Distance-Plus (not other models!) holds the max contaminants (29.1g, Mobil - 28g very close). If you want max engine protection, Bosch is 99.9% efficient (Mobil 99.2% - very, very close).Some reviewer has said that Mobil filters are K&N filters on the inside. I disagree. Peeking inside the filter hole (you can see only the inner drum and hint of filter material) cannot tell an "expert" how the filter is constructed on the inside. Why does K&N not declare their data (as Mobil and Bosch Distance-Plus-only do?) People who are at the top always boldly publish their data, and do not depend on hype.Yes, previous version of Mobil filters had flow problems. That has been long corrected.Comment Comment... A Must For Synthetic Oil

Frams filters are very good you really can't go wrong. The only thing I found out later is that it is much cheaper at Kragen or almost any auto parts store, but good filters Top to learn more
A good solution is to use the oil filter adaptor from 90/110 (early Defenders) engines. The standard oil filter set up on the Series 2. 5 oil filters that will spin on and off like more modern vehicles. These oil filter adaptors are expensive to buy new (ETC5347 over £200.
