Great Stuff
I just love this stuff it really does the job way better than regular paper backed sandpaper. I use it with the to get close to dustless sanding.Even the very fine grades really have a good feel to them you can really tell they are doing their thing on the surface of the stock you are sanding. Their claim of long abrasive life is not a fabrication I have used them way past when I would expect a normal abrasive to give up.Just to see what these would do I went up to the 600 grit on the face of the iron in one of my planes that was less than attractive and I came out with an almost mirror finish in a a couple of minutes. Far superior to sandpaper
I've tried just about every product type of abrasive available in my production of lathe-turned objects (plus a few other woodcraft items). Abranet is far superior to sandpaper. It's more expensive per square inch, but probably less expensive overall due to its long useful life. I especially appreciate the non-clogging nature of the product. For pens and other such lathe-turned objects, I usually work sequentially through all the Abranet grits (there are some that are not included in this sampler package), and then switch to Micro Mesh in 1500, 1800, and 2400 grades. For my purposes, by the way, I always cut this size Abranet in half, ending up with 2 3/4 x 4" pieces. The size is then more appropriate for small items such as pens, and I get double the number of sheets.
